Lali Michaeli (Israel)

Lali Michaeli was born in Georgia in 1964 and immigrated to Israel at the age of seven. Lali teaches poetry and Hebrew language at the International University in Shanghai and is considered by many to be the most prominent groundbreaking poet in the contemporary Israeli poetry scene. Michaeli has so far published seven books of poetry, of which the most recent one is My Secret Lover, You (New World Publishing, 2022). Her poetry has also been published in the cultural press and magazines in Israel and in international poetry anthologies. Michaeli’s work was translated into many languages, including English, Italian, French, Romanian, Russian, Georgian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Hindi, Bengali, Chinese, Persian, with a forthcoming edition in Arabic. In 2018, she was invited to host a writing residency in New York, where she also launched two of her books at the KGB bar. She has one son and lives in Tel Aviv.
